Origin Story

Seeds-of-Love is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing support, community, mentorship and inner healing programs to women struggling with identity as it relates to trauma and decision making. We strive to be facilitators of freedom from false identity. We offer free, confidential services in a safe, judgment-free space. Our vision is for all women to live boldly in their true identity.

Our story is about love, redemption, healing and restoration. Nearly thirty-five years ago, our founder, Lisa Young, found herself pregnant and on her own. She was advised that having a baby would ruin her life and an abortion was the only solution. The decision to end the pregnancy was actually the result of unresolved childhood trauma, along with feelings of fear, insecurity and confusion. A trauma-centered identity was formed in Lisa where the trauma itself defined her self worth. Her brain operated in survival mode.

Lisa grew in a controlling home with an alcoholic parent. Her parents divorced at age 6. Lisa experienced sexual abuse at age 7 and kept it hidden for 14 years. Those events shattered her sense of safety and control. Lisa's parents remarried each other at age 11. She struggled with emptiness. As a teenager and young adult, Lisa longed to feel meaningful connection. She was consumed with finding her identity in a boyfriend and later in her husband & children. The struggle with self-image and feeling "less than" advanced. Lisa filled the vacant places of her heart with comfort in busyness, control, food, fixing everything, status and seeking validation from others. The journey to healing was long, difficult and sweet. God was with her all the way in small and grand moments.

Today, Lisa is passionate about helping people struggling with identity, trauma and generational patterns of destructive behavior. As the mother of a trans daughter and someone who personally struggles with her appearance, Lisa is deeply aware of the grief associated with feeling "less than." Now living in her true identity -- a compassionate, encourager and advocate, Lisa is committed to loving and supporting women throughout their freedom journeys, being the person she needed many years ago.

Healing Journey

God used a sequence of life events from 1991-1997 and 2008-2012 to make Himself known.  These events launched a healing journey for Lisa beginning in 2014 with Re:Generation; a 12-step Christ-centered recovery program. The year long process involved taking inventory of her life, admitting, confessing and surrendering all the wounds to God. Shame was exposed. Being in Watermark Re:Gen was the first experience of authentic accountability through addressing destructive thoughts and habits. It was the introduction to having a new life in Christ.

A few years later, she experienced trauma-based healing through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in 2019-21. While CBT was very helpful, there is no behavior modification that can completely heal. Healing requires a heart transformation.

Lisa's true identity in Christ was activated in October 2022 after meeting Jamie Winship and reading his book Living Fearless. Soon after, she was introduced to Novo.org and their Activating Prayer Cohorts on Spiritual Authority. It was during the "Teach Me to Pray" Cohort in 2023 when Jesus revealed Himself to Lisa. Her transformation advanced with more Spirit-led encounters in 2024, including City Church International and their Discipleship Intensive led by Angela Weir, The Noble Workshops and their 5-day Experiential Therapy Intensive led by Sam Eldredge in Colorado Springs and through IASIS Micro-Current Neurofeedback.

In October 2025, Lisa was directed to The Center for Faith and Helping Parents Love, a curriculum-based support group for parents of LGBTQ children, created by Preston Sprinkle. During HPL, God showed Lisa where legalism was present in her faith, revealing blindspots and cultivating a love-like-Jesus calling for all people groups. The LORD called Lisa into full-time ministry in February 2026, shortly after completing the HPL curriculum. Lisa is dedicated to leading others to freedom through Jesus Christ.
